Scientific Name: Lavandula angustifolia

Benefits/History: Calming, soothing, and therapeutic - lavender oil is celebrated around the world for its aromatic, relaxing and stress relieving benefits. Further, it is one of the most versatile essential oils on the market, today. In addition to being used as a relaxation oil in aromatherapy blends, lavender oil’s antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties enable it to be used topically as a skin care ingredient (always remember to dilute!) to soothe minor burns, bites, and skin irritations. The oil can be used around the home in DIY projects, as well! Diffusing lavender oil can also help to reduce the severity of headaches, nausea, and feelings of anxiousness or nervousness as it helps to promote a peaceful environment. TIP: A few drops of lavender oil on your pillow at night can help induce sleep and promote a more peaceful night of rest. 

DIY: 

Sleep Easy Lavender Blend: 

  • 4 drops of Lavender Essential oil
  • 1 drop of Bergamot essential oil 
  • 1 drop of Patchouli Essential Oil 
  • 1 drop of ylang ylang essential oil 

Add essential oils to an electric diffuser and take in the aromatic benefits for an improved sleep. 

Anti-Acne lavender remedy 

Dilute lavender essential oil with a carrier oil like jojoba. Dab lavender oil mixture onto blemishes and skin infections with a cotton swab. Because lavender oil is antiseptic and anti-inflammatory, it reduces acne-causing bacteria while relieving swelling and redness on the face. Add a few drops of lavender to your daily natural face moisturizer for an added boost in combating oiliness.
