December 27, 2018

Ingredient of the Week: Argan Oil

Scientific Name: Argania Spinosa

Benefits/History: Sometimes referred to as ‘liquid gold’, argan oil is obtained through an extraction process from the kernels of the Moroccan argan tree. Argan oil’s most prominent function is its efficacy as a skin moisturizer to hydrate and soften skin. The Vitamin E and fatty acids found in argan oil are beneficial for providing soothing relief and natural healing for skin that is flaking, dry, damaged cracked and burned. In addition to hydration, argan oil’s antioxidant-rich composition makes it an effective anti-aging agent. As it restores the look of lost elasticity in the skin, Argan Oil gives skin a natural glow while reducing the visibility of fine lines and wrinkles.

Argan oil can also be a reparative treatment for dry lips, feet, nails, hair and can even improve the appearance of sagging skin and stretch marks.

Skin Types: Argan oil delivers relief to dry skin and conditions such as eczema, helping reduce and soothe skin flaking and dryness. The Vitamin E and fatty acid content in argan oil nourish skin, repair damage and prevent future irritation and dryness.  The oil’s non-greasy consistency also makes if a fabulous moisturizer for oily and acne-prone skin types, reducing inflammation, bringing balance and providing necessary, natural moisture, while not clogging pores.
